The leaves and stem tips are used to make medicine. Java tea is sometimes taken as “irrigation therapy.” This means it is taken along with lots of fluids to increase urine flow. It is also used for bladder and kidney disorders, including bacterial infections and kidney stones; liver and gallbladder problems, including gallstones; gout; and achy joints (rheumatism).
